How to auto-categorize transactions
Auto-categorization on Inkle Books makes categorizing multiple transactions fast and easy. Let's dive deeper into auto-categorization and how you can use this feature to maximize accounting efficiency.
1. Verifying auto-categorized transactions
In most cases, Inkle Books will automatically categorize transactions based on the description and payment source. For example, payments made through platforms like Stripe or PayPal are classified as income, while expenses from office supplies or software subscriptions are sorted into the appropriate expense categories. These transactions are marked with a single green tick (✅) at the end of the row. Clicking on this tick will verify and confirm the category for these transactions.
2. Categorizing with AI suggestions
In the case of uncategorized transactions, our AI engine will go ahead and suggest categories based on the vendor and description. Go ahead and click on the suggested category if it's accurate or add the right category from the options that follow.
3. Bulk categorizing with AI
For repetitive transactions, you have an option to bulk categorize all of them with the same AI suggested category that you selected in the previous step. Categorize one, categorize all in a single step.
