Attaching W-forms to invoices
Attaching W-Forms to your invoices in Inkle Books ensures compliance and provides necessary documentation for tax purposes, especially when working with U.S.-based clients or contractors. Here's how to seamlessly add W-Forms, like W-9 or W-8, to your invoices:
1. Prepare Your W-Forms
Before attaching W-Forms, ensure they’re filled out and ready. Common forms include W-9 (for U.S. individuals/entities) and W-8 (for foreign entities working with U.S. businesses). You can create a W-Form directly within our app.
2. Navigate to the Invoices Section
Log in to your Inkle Books account and go to the “Invoicing” tab. Choose the invoice you wish to attach the W-Form to, or create a new invoice if necessary.
3. Attach a File
On the invoice preview modal, look for the “Attachments” option. This allows you to upload relevant documents. Click “Attach File” and select your completed W-Form from your device.
4. Send the Invoice with W-Form
After attaching the form, review your invoice details, ensuring everything is accurate. When you're ready, click “Send” to email the invoice and the attached W-Form directly to your client or contractor.
5. Track all your past invoices
Inkle Books will help you track the status of the invoice, ensuring the client receives both the invoice and attached W-Form.
